The PreSonus Eris E3.5 (v1) is a highly popular pair of active entry-level multimedia studio monitors known for offering professional-style acoustic tuning at a highly affordable budget. Originally launched in 2017, the original version (v1) established itself as a benchmark for compact desktop setups, home studios, and casual gaming or video editing.

Hardware and Layout

The v1 setup splits into an active "master" left speaker containing all the internal amplification and a passive "slave" right speaker connected via standard raw speaker wire. 

• Front Panel Controls: Includes a dedicated power switch, analog volume knob, 3.5 mm auxiliary input, and a 3.5 mm headphone output that automatically mutes the main speakers when plugged in. 

• Rear Inputs: Features dual balanced ¼-inch TRS jacks and dual unbalanced RCA inputs. [1]

• Acoustic Tuning: Unlike most consumer multimedia speakers, the v1 features High and Low Acoustic Tuning knobs (-6 dB to +6 dB) on the back to adapt the frequency response to your room’s boundaries.

  
  

Sound Profile and Limitations

While marketed as studio monitors, the sound profile leans slightly consumer-friendly with a mildly scooped, "smiley face" V-curve with a subtle peak around 100 Hz to compensate for the smaller woofer size, resulting in decent punching mid-bass, though they naturally lack deep sub-bass reproduction.
