Focusrite OctoPre mk2 Microphone Preamp
The Focusrite OctoPre mk2 Microphone Preamp is an 8-channel microphone preamplifier and A-D converter designed to expand the channel count of an audio interface or digital mixer via ADAT. It features the same legacy preamps found in Focusrite's historic Saffire PRO interface line.
Specifications
Digital Conversion: 24-bit resolution with supported sample rates up to 96 kHz using SMUX.
Analogue Inputs: 2 front-panel Combi XLR/TRS inputs (Channels 1 and 2 switchable to Hi-Z instrument level) and 6 rear-panel XLR microphone inputs.
Analogue Outputs: 8 balanced 1/4" TRS direct outputs, which mirror the preamp signals for latency-free monitoring or analogue routing.
Digital Outputs: Dual integrated TOSLINK ADAT optical lightpipe connections.
Phantom Power: +48V phantom power switchable in two distinct groups (Channels 1–4 and 5–8).
Clocking: Features a BNC Word Clock input for synchronization with external master clocks, powered by JetPLL™ jitter elimination.
Drum-Ready Headroom: Every input is equipped with a dedicated -10 dB pad switch on the front panel. This allows the preamps to handle high-SPL (Sound Pressure Level) signals from sound sources like heavy snare hits or kick drums without clipping.
Fast-Acting Metering: Each channel features a 5-segment LED input meter to provide clear, real-time tracking references and prevent digital clipping.
Dual Function Outputs: Because it outputs signals to both the ADAT optical port and the analogue line outputs simultaneously, it can feed a live front-of-house mixer while concurrently sending isolated digital tracks to a DAW recorder.
